Critic Studio: Thanks for taking the time to talk with Critic Studio guys. I greatly appreciate it. For anyone new to Fight The Machine, can you give us a little history on the band and how you got started?
Alexander (lead vocals/guitar): The year was 2032. The machines had assumed control of all music. The BieberTron6000 reigned supreme. Humanity was on the brink of extinction. All hope seemed lost.
Prentice (drums): Our leader, John Connor, had only one option: To send a team of highly trained specialists back in time to save music.
Joey (bass): Also, to pleasure all the women.
CS: The bands debut EP “The Assayer” is out now, as is the video for the first single “Cannibal.” How would you describe your sound? And who are some of the bands musical influences?
Alexander: Our sound is Alt/Rock/Pop/Arena.
Prentice: A little bit of this, a little bit of that.
Joey: Radio-friendly music with edge.
CS: If anyone’s seen the uncensored version of the “Cannibal” video they’ll know it’s pretty twisted, in a cool way. How did the idea for the video come about?
Alexander: The concept for the “Cannibal” video was based on the metaphor of the song, which is that anything that a person strongly desires can consume them. David Groves, the director, took that idea and developed it with us into what you see in the video.
CS: When it comes to songwriting is it a group effort or is there one main songwriter in the band?
Prentice: Nah, just Alex.
Joey: Justin Bieber writes all our songs.
Alexander: We all write the music, I write the lyrics.
CS: The bands played some legendary clubs in California including the Roxy, The Viper Room and The Troubadour. Are there any plans to take the show on the road for a tour?
Alexander: Yes, we’re working on a tour right now.
CS: Are there any plans for a second single as of yet? And if so, will there be a video to go along with it?
Alexander: The second single off our EP is “Carousel”, and we’re working on a video concept.
Prentice: Martin Scorsese is directing it.
Joey: I shall contact my hedge funds.
CS: Are there any plans to release anymore material this year? Maybe another EP or a possible 7″?
Alexander: We’re writing a ton of new material and will most likely be in the studio late December or early January.
Prentice: No! We have not met our quota of sales for this EP yet! BUY OUR RECORD!
Joey: I didn’t know we needed more than six songs?!?
CS: Is there a website you guys wanna plug where fans can get up to date news on releases, shows and merch?
Joey: WWW DOT
Prentice: Facebook Dot Com
Alexander: Slash OfficialFTM
CS: Thanks again for talking with Critic Studio guys. I wanna wish you all the best. And I hope we can get you guys out to Chicago soon for a gig! Thanks again.
Alexander: Thanks for having us! And remember to spay and neuter your pets.
Prentice: That is not a question. I only take questions.
Joey: Only if you book us a show at Sears Tower.
